Frequently Asked Questions
Which pianos are supported?
DiskPiano works with Yamaha Disklavier (all major generations), PianoDisc, QRS systems, and most MIDI-capable digital pianos and keyboards. See our compatibility page for the full list.
How do I connect DiskPiano (USB vs Bluetooth)?
USB-MIDI (recommended) offers the best stability and response. Use any USB Type-C MIDI interface (around $25). Bluetooth-MIDI works with adapters like Yamaha MD-BT01 and CME WIDI Master. USB is ideal for long sessions; Bluetooth is perfect for quick wireless use.
Why is USB recommended over Bluetooth?
USB-MIDI provides lower latency, better stability, and more reliable synchronization. It's the preferred connection for professional use and longer playing sessions.
Is the music fully licensed?
Yes, all performances on DiskPiano are legally licensed through rights organizations (such as ASCAP) and include in-house productions, purchased works, and public-domain recordings.
Do I get anything for free?
Yes, you get 10 minutes free per day. After that, a subscription is available monthly or yearly inside the app.
Do you support Android?
Android version is coming soon. Join the waitlist on our homepage to be notified at launch.
Does DiskPiano send audio or MIDI?
DiskPiano sends MIDI data to your real piano, which then plays the notes. There is no audio playback for non-player pianos — your piano does the actual playing.
